Over the Rhine – Latter Days

“Latter days”
It’s my party and I can cry if I want to. Well, I’m not crying. Because it’s my birthday, I’m breaking the rules and playing the only song that could possibly be played on my birthday — “Latter Days”.
I’ve listened to this song every year on or around my birthday for the past 5 years. So what — I’m sentimental. A very dear friend of mine introduced me to this song some 7 years ago. She is a magical person, and this song reminds me of her to this day.
Happy Birthday to me. Enjoy!

I was a camper at a christian camp and my counselor weeks after i left for the summer sent me a mixed tape, and Latter Days was the very last song on side B. It was my song that got me through tough high school relationships. Now its just a good song to chill to. I found the love of my life so now it speaks to me in a different way. I always think of Missy Mary, the crazy red headed free spirit who showed me the way to musical enlightenment.
I love hearing stories like that. People like Missy Mary are special.
Thanks for shaing.
It’s a sad song to me. Makes me want to cry, but in a good way!
