John Dowland,Sting,Edin Karamazov
“Come Again”

It seems as though Sting finds a way to crop up here and there from time to time. This time he’s performing a piece composed by John Dowland (1563-1626), performed by Edin Karamazov (on lute).

Sting’s Songs from the Labyrinth is not for the average listener, but it was not meant to be. It’s a must for any serious music collector. Sting not only covers these 17th century compositions, but he also joins Karamazov on a couple of the duets, and reads a bit of a letter written by John Dowland.

Suspend disbelief for just a moment — A 21st century pop artist is actually featuring works originally played for the Danish courts in the 17th century. The appreciation of classical art evolves before our ears.

I was a fan when I first heard Men at Work when I was a kid. Knowing that Colin hasn’t stopped writing makes my heart feel warm.
His music has been featured all over the place. Most recently on scrubs, the T.V. show.

This song makes me happy. Today is Monday. It’s spring.

I don’t know too much about Colbie, but I do know I like this song. I’m not sure if she has a CD, but she needs one.

Buenos dias! Oddly enough, I was exposed to the Gipsy Kings back in 2001. I listened to nearly everything they recorded. When I came across this song, I knew I would have to store it for this site 6 years later. Ok not really, but I do really dig this cover. The guitar parts are more heartfelt to me and for that reason I like this version better than the original. Who cares if you don’t speak Spanish? Sing along in English if you know the words.

This is One Love. Maybe you remember this song. It was first sung by Bob Marley. You can find this song on the “Gap Favorites” CD. That is, if you can still find one. Stacy introduced me to this cover tonight. I had never heard it before. It is pretty dope.

There isn’t a weak track on this album. Michael hedges was a musical genius. His life was cut short in a car accident. It’s tragic – he was on his way to being a prolific and amazing musician. No one had heard anything like his music at the time.
